Spay It Forward

This page is designed to share successful spay/neuter marketing promotions from groups across the nation. Many of these have been successfully emulated in other areas and groups have put their own twist on them.  Make sure you research what will and won’t work in your community!

Check out creative print, radio, and videos. Many are available for use. Please contact the appropriate organizations for more information.

Contact us at humanealliancewnc@yahoo.com if you have successful ideas that you’ve done not listed here. We may not be able to use all but appreciate you sharing.

Some have a humorous twist but you will notice that almost all address the basic core issues of ending unwanted litters and annoying behaviors of going into heat, spraying, fighting, and humping. These are key reasons given by people for choosing to spay or neuter their pet.

This page will continue to grow so check back often. We hope this helps you get started and that you share your ideas with others and keep spaying it forward!

John McEnroe Spay/Neuter PSA - PETA
This fun PSA shows John McEnroe promoting the reasons to fix your pet. We do not know if this video is available for individual groups to use but you are able to email on to your friends. We liked it because it ties in how fixing your dog relates to the entire shelter overpopulation issue.

Contact PETA via their website for more info about this video.

Help! Cats
A funny video with an important message created by Alliance for Humane Action to encourage spaying and neutering of cats. They have had hundreds of thousands of hits and plan to create more fun videos.

This is not available to show on broadcast TV other than cable access.
Contact: rebadler@comcast.net or www.ahaworks.org

Peaches Video - Emancipet, Austin TX
A video that gets across the serious, emotional message of euthanasia but does so in a non threatening way that brings home the message with your own pet.

This video is not available for use but is available to view at www.emancipet.org

Public Service Announcements - SNAP
This is one of two PSAs viewable at the SNAPUS website. These PSAs were done pro bono by a local advertising firm. They showcase how unaltered pets may get out of your house and get pregnant or cause pregnancy even thought you think it could never happen. The ads are done in a way that you don’t know they are talking about dogs and cats until the end. When this runs on TV they always see a spike in appointments.

This material is not available for use but visit www.snapus.org for more information.
