300,000 dogs and cats sterilized since 1994 at our clinic
Syllabus
The weeklong syllabus for the Private Vet Training program is customized daily to suit your needs and desires. To provide an excellent experience, we limit the student-to-teacher ratio to 2:1. Please note, however, that this does mean we have a limited number of spaces available for training.
Our goal is twofold: first, to polish your surgical skills, with emphasis on sterilization procedures (the high-quality piece); and second, to enhance your organizational skills to make the most efficient use of time (the high-volume piece). A daily syllabus, therefore, may include but is not limited to the list below.
Our E-Learning section also offers best-practice video demonstrations from our team and colleagues around the nation.
- Patient selection and identification of appropriate low-risk surgical candidates
- Patient flow management
- Drug/anesthetic protocols
- Support staff coordination
- Recognition of surgical pack contents and the value of minimizing the same
- Maintenance of sterile surgical technique in a high-volume situation
- Review of anatomy as it applies to the efficient and successful completion of the sterilization procedure
- Review of instrument and tissue-handling skills
- HVHQ-specific surgical techniques
- Pedicle tie
